In all seriousness the 14th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has dropped and… it’s good. Wh– of course it’s good. Did you really expect me to say that a MARVEL FILM was BAD? Most critics and fans have adored this series for a little more than eight years now, and, aside from a few bumps in the road, (Iron Man 2 and Incredible Hulk) the franchise has been pretty solid. Doctor Strange is no different. Scott Derrickson did an amazing job staying true to the source material, while adding a little of his own magic into the picture.

The movies visuals are stunning, with one scene informing me on what a bad trip must feel like. I’m talking traveling through a wormhole in your giant clone’s eyeball. It’s really pays homage to the art of Steve Ditko.

Don’t Do Drugs, Kids.

There wasn’t a moment in the two-hour experience that I was bored. The character work is also very well done, effectively introducing magic and the multiverse into the MCU. I’d go into a bit more detail but, we run a spoiler free blog here.

The movie does have problems though. The movie is a bit short, and I feel like some characters should have been given some extra time. The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton), Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelson), and a few others might not have needed more backstory, but definitely needed more time on screen.

Overall, Mr. Dr. Steve Vince (Insert Comic-y Last Name Here) was a good movie, not great, but enjoyable, fun, and a great introduction to magic. Because this is Marvel movie, Doctor Strange is ACCEPTABLE, but if it were anyone else, it would Exceed Expectations.
